Sedation & Sleep Dentistry

Comfortable Dentistry Starts With Feeling Safe and Relaxed

At Bowes Dental Centre, our clinic prides itself on efficiency, compassion, and creating a comfortable experience for every patient. We understand that fear, anxiety, or past dental experiences can prevent people from receiving the care they need. That is why sedation dentistry is a core part of how we practice, not simply an added service.

As the only clinic in the area offering sleep dentistry, we are able to help patients complete necessary treatments comfortably and without stress. In many cases, procedures that patients have delayed for years can be completed safely and efficiently because sedation allows treatment to be performed in a calm, controlled environment.

What Sedation Dentistry Is

Sedation dentistry uses carefully controlled medication to help patients relax during dental treatment. Depending on your needs, sedation can range from mild relaxation to deep sleep, allowing procedures to be completed comfortably while reducing anxiety, discomfort, and awareness of time during treatment.

Sedation is especially helpful for patients who experience dental anxiety, have a strong gag reflex, require longer or more complex procedures, or have difficulty sitting comfortably for extended periods. It allows dental care to be completed more efficiently while helping patients feel at ease throughout the process.

At Bowes Dental Centre, sedation options include oral sedation, IV sedation, nitrous oxide, and full sleep dentistry under general anesthesia. Each option is carefully selected based on your medical history, level of anxiety, and treatment requirements.

Why Patients Choose Bowes Dental Centre for Sedation Dentistry

What makes Bowes Dental Centre different is that sedation dentistry is fully integrated into our surgical and restorative care. Dr. Mahmoud Khojasteh, known as Dr. Moudy, has advanced training in IV sedation and is certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support, ensuring patient safety at every stage of treatment.

Because we offer sedation and sleep dentistry in-house, patients are able to undergo procedures such as implant surgery, extractions, and complex treatments more comfortably and often in fewer visits. Many patients who previously avoided dental treatment are able to move forward confidently, knowing their comfort and safety are our top priorities.

Sedation allows us to focus on delivering high-quality dentistry while patients remain relaxed, reducing stress for both the patient and the treatment process.

Sedation Options Available

Oral Sedation

Oral sedation involves taking prescribed medication before your appointment to help you feel calm and relaxed. You remain awake but deeply at ease throughout your treatment, making this option ideal for moderate anxiety or longer appointments.

IV Sedation

IV sedation provides a deeper level of relaxation and allows precise control of sedation levels throughout the procedure. Patients typically remember very little of the treatment and experience a more comfortable overall visit.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Commonly known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a gentle and safe form of sedation that helps patients relax quickly. The effects wear off soon after treatment, allowing you to resume normal activities the same day.

Sleep Dentistry

Bowes Dental Centre is the only clinic in the area offering sleep dentistry. Sleep dentistry, or general anesthesia, allows patients to be fully asleep during their procedure, with no awareness or memory of the treatment. This option is particularly beneficial for patients with severe dental anxiety, special needs, or those requiring extensive dental surgery.

General anesthesia is administered by a qualified anesthesiologist in a controlled and monitored environment, ensuring the highest level of safety and comfort throughout the procedure.
